Happy week 2!! Our campers arrived today and started meeting new people and making new friends! After setting up their cabins or cabents and bidding their parents goodbye for a week, or three days, or two weeks, campers took turns getting tours of camp, taking swim tests, and grabbing a pizza slice or two for dinner. Camp Seven Hills is quite busy this week, with 11 different programs. This week we are hosting 1st Time at Camp; Secret Mission; Climbing Masters; Saddle Savvy; a Clue program; Camp of Champions; Riders Ready; Bucket List; Camper v. Counselor; our New York City trip seeing Hamilton; and, of course, our Counselors in Training.
Our main event tonight was the opening campfire after dinner. All counselors and staff gathered around to sing songs, act in skits, get to know the faces around camp, and learn about some important procedures. Every campfire ends with a huge friendship circle, where campers and staff cross their arms right over left, hold hands, and sing along to taps, then to “linger” (“I want to linger, a little longer, a little longer here with you”). Everyone split off for their nighttime routines and their first night at camp, ready for a busy day tomorrow! See pictures from today here.
