Session 2 Tuesday

Most Campers began this sunny day with a flag ceremony and breakfast at the dining hall. All, that is, except for our first time brownies, who slept in a bit and made their very own pancakes over the campfire in their pajamas, complete with sprinkles and whipped cream! Everyone got a chance to help cook, and clean up after themselves too. The other group that was missing from breakfast this morning was the NYC trip campers! Their bus left at early this morning, and they made it to the city safe and sound. That group had a bit of time for shopping before heading to dinner at Ellen’s Stardust Diner! We’ll have more updates and photos from that group on the blog soon.

Back at camp, the Climbing Masters group experienced their first two high ropes elements–the cat walk (a log suspended on wires with no hand-holds) and the two-line (a wire to walk on and a rope to hang onto). Campers were already familiar with being spotters for their peers who were climbing, and their commands, including checking that they are “On Belay!” and “Spotters Ready?” Our Arts and Crafts counselors broke out the tie-dye today for a few groups, but others made different crafts too! The secret mission brownies made some masquerade masks to fit this week’s theme–Broadway! Meanwhile, Riders Ready got some time in the barn, not only riding but also participating in barn chores and tack lessons.

To beat the heat after lunch, Climbing Masters took some time to play water sports! As it usually goes, it started with an organized game of water balloon toss but soon became a water fight! Across the sports field, another group decided to play team building games.

After some dinner where we celebrated a very important birthday (our camp director, Goofy!), most campers had the option of what to do with Camper’s Choice! Tonight’s programs were a fashion show, chalk painting, and board games near the lake. At the same time, our First Time Brownies had their closing campfire with the Counselors in Training. Just when we thought the camp was about ready to go to sleep, the brownies from secret mission raided the kitchen for some late-night ice cream! Somehow they avoided the lasers on in the dining hall, so we’ll have to double check our security systems. They weren’t even the only ones raiding the kitchen for a snack! As soon as the ice cream was gone, freezee pops also disappeared from the back porch. Rumors say it was the Camp of Champions campers, but all we saw was a suspicious-looking group of trees.
