It’s the first full day of Broadway Musicals Week, and what a show-stopping start it’s been! With a star-studded breakfast of pancakes, bacon, watermelon, and cereal, everyone danced their way out of the dining hall and into morning kapers!

Our campers kicked off their morning with Gaga where epic rounds of gaga ball had the crowd (okay, counsellors) on their feet! Meanwhile, some campers focused on their creative side with chalk drawing. Even Molly the Whale made a guest appearance near the sports field!

Archery, boating and arts and crafts were very popular (not a Wicked pun!) areas that campers chose to participate in this morning! And guess what? The pool is officially open — cue the underwater handstand competitions. Huge shoutout to Frog and our awesome waterfront team for making it magical And just when you thought the morning couldn’t get anymore more exciting… our CITs had their first floating lunch of the summer! Yes, that’s lunch + boating, which equals perfection – especially if a sun butter and jelly sandwich is involved.

After lunch of chicken stir fry, rice, veggies, and pudding (yum!), it was time to dive back into action. Bug jars were made in nature, as even more boating took place with our Plainsman campers. Later in the day, our campers over in Bunkhouse did finger painting and look at all the pretty creations they made, whilst riding lessons took place with all of our celebrity horses over in the barn!

Over in Highland, sports was once again a very popular area today, however, this time water was involved. One counsellor (who shall remain unnamed… okay, it was me) got drenched within 20 seconds of arriving! The magic of camp really makes all of us counsellors do the craziest things for our campers and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

As the curtains closed on daily activities, our performers jumped into drama games, mask-making, and fairy house building in arts and crafts. Then, it was time for a delicious dinner of spaghetti, meatballs and a LOT of breadsticks! The night ended with our first Camper’s Choice of the week — each activity themed to match the magic of Broadway! Meanwhile, just a few minutes away, our CITs took on Counsellor Jeopardy with many cans of shaving cream being involved!

As the lights dimmed and our stars headed to bed, one thing was clear — the show’s just getting started and we can’t wait for it to begin all over again tomorrow!
