Another whale-y Wednesday at Camp Seven Hills! Humpback whales sing intricate songs that can span seven octaves, nearly the entire range of a piano!
We started off the morning right with bacon and pancakes, with the usual breakfast stand and cereal bar as alternatives/additions to the breakfast menu.
There were cookouts today for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Our units were busy cheffing it up! Over at Sugarbush in the morning they fired up some pancakes and breakfast sandwiches. The campers were bundled up in their blankets this morning to stay toasty by the fire!
Riding onto the afternoon, the horses got their exercise trotting outside! The ‘Is It Cake?’ program put their baking skills to use and made two desserts! One was a no-bake cake with a graham cracker base, whipped cream, and mango! They also made their very own campfire cupcakes, their decorating skills are very impressive! I suppose the Sugarbush counselors got FOMO about the whipped cream and had their campers pie them in the face, what a delicious feat!
In arts and crafts campers made collages and tie dye items like socks and shirts! There were some more painting crafts drying from yesterday inside and on the banister. Tie-dye was the style for today’s 80’s themed lunch, pairing it with sweatbands and scrunchies.
Brownie Lodge had a cookout after their dress up contest on stage. They made grilled cheese, chicken soup, and s’mores dip. Very cozy foods for a chilly day! Highland was the last unit today to have their cookout. They made a customizable menu of a pasta bar by having many sauce choices and meatballs. They also made cheesey bread as a side and zoey cakes for dessert! This is my first time seeing a Zoey cake being made, they had vanilla and chocolate batter and an array of mix-ins like marshmallows, graham crackers, chocolate, and blueberries. Put whatever you fancy into a tin-foil bowl and close it up to cook on the campfire!
